Man City Star and Brazil international Ederson Moraes has signed a new contract with Saudi Club for A shocking fee of £40mllion
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has declined a £25 million offer for one of their standout talents, Ederson Moraes.
Romano reports that Manchester City is unsatisfied with the recent offer from Al-Nassr, a prominent team in the Saudi Pro League, which has been aggressively pursuing top players. Al-Nassr already boasts a roster featuring stars like Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Aymeric Laporte, and Cristiano Ronaldo. The club hoped to finalize a deal for Ederson within a week, according to reports from last Tuesday.
Since Pep Guardiola became Manchester City’s manager in 2016, the club has adhered to a clear and straightforward policy: they allow players to leave if the purchasing club meets their valuation. This policy means that while City is open to negotiations, they also stand firm on their financial demands to ensure they secure the best deal for all parties involved.
Andy Townsend, a football pundit, has praised Ederson as an “amazing” talent. Reflecting his importance, Manchester City’s official social media accounts featured a photo of Ederson during preseason training.
Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that Manchester City will not accept Al-Nassr’s initial offer of €30 million (£25.2 million). The Italian journalist revealed that Ederson, 30, is open to the move to the Saudi club, but City values him at over €50 million (£42 million). Therefore, the success of the deal now depends on whether Al-Nassr is willing to meet Manchester City’s valuation.
Given Ederson’s significant contribution to the team and his status as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, Manchester City has every reason to stand firm on their asking price. Selling Ederson for anything less than £42 million would not reflect his true value to the team.
Thus, Manchester City should maintain their stance: they should either retain Ederson, who remains a key player in their lineup, or sell him to a buyer who meets their financial expectations. If Al-Nassr refuses to meet the asking price, City should be prepared to hold on to their star goalkeeper or consider offers from other clubs that recognize his worth.
