HERE WE GO ✅: Arsenal pushing very hard to complete another big signing today, player’s camp have agreed to join, medical date fixed as Arteta set to announce His second summer signing today
Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Espanyol star Joan Garcia in the current transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The Gunners have been constrained by the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules. After a quiet winter window, they have yet to make any major signings this summer. So far, their only business includes making David Raya’s loan move permanent and nearing a deal to sign young goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax Amsterdam.
It seems Arsenal are focusing on selling players to raise funds, with plans to sign new faces later in the window. Mikel Arteta’s side has already seen Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares depart, while Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe are linked with potential exits.
Eddie Nketiah is also expected to be sold, and Aaron Ramsdale might leave to secure regular first-team football after being sidelined last season.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal has identified Joan Garcia as a serious option to bolster their goalkeeping department before the window closes. The report indicates that Arsenal has been monitoring his situation and that he has a £21m release clause in his contract.
However, Arsenal faces stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, who are also interested in securing Garcia’s signature.
Garcia had a promising campaign in La Liga 2 last season, helping Espanyol maintain their top-flight status. The 23-year-old, standing at 6ft 3in, is comfortable with the ball at his feet, efficient in the air, and an excellent shot-stopper.
Signing Garcia could be a good long-term move for Arsenal, but his call-up to Spain’s Olympic team could complicate the transfer.
