“The league is dangerously prepared for Arsenal, if not, this guy should have been sent off for his foul on our player”- Brentford Boss Thomas Frank expresses his disappointment as he believes £60M Arsenal star should have been shown a straight Red card after a challenge from Nathan Collins
Brentford manager Thomas Frank has expressed his belief that Kai Havertz should have been shown a red card before scoring the decisive goal in Arsenal’s 2-1 triumph over the Bees. Frank’s side had appeared poised to secure a valuable point against the title contenders, with Yoane Wissa equalizing Declan Rice’s early opener just before halftime.
However, reminiscent of their previous encounter in November, Havertz once again proved to be the thorn in Brentford’s side, netting a late winner and denying them any points for their efforts. Frank contends that Havertz was fortunate to remain on the pitch after what he perceived to be a dive in the box under a challenge from Nathan Collins.
Despite already being on a yellow card, Havertz went down under minimal contact from the Brentford defender, prompting appeals from the Bees players for a second booking. However, referee Rob Jones opted not to penalize Havertz, a decision Frank deemed as a “clear dive.”
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Frank expressed his frustration, stating, “I actually think, and I would never normally do this, but I think Havertz shouldn’t be on the pitch when he scored the goal.” He elaborated, citing the replay evidence as confirmation of Havertz’s simulation, and suggested that the linesman should have intervened.
Furthermore, Frank provided an update on the condition of captain Christian Norgaard, who was forced off in the first half due to injury during the encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
