“Arsenal can NEVER win the league with him, he’s a bad egg, he won’t allow Arsenal team to progress”- Chelsea Icon John Terry has warned Mikel Arteta that if he wants to be serious about winning the league, he should sell out his star player, not Havertz, Partey, or Zinchenko.
Gabriel Jesus’ determination to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the starting lineup has received full support from manager Mikel Arteta, who has laid out his final transfer strategy. Despite concerns over injuries, the arrival of Kai Havertz for £65 million, and substantial transfer offers from Saudi Arabia, it was believed that Jesus’ time at Arsenal could come to an end this summer.
However, the 27-year-old entered this season with a mindset focused on proving himself and securing first-team minutes under Arteta. His persistence has seemingly paid off, as Jesus played a key role in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory against Wolves on the opening day. After the match, it was confirmed that the Brazilian forward remains central to Arteta’s plans, and the club does not appear to be in the market for a new striker.
According to reports, Jesus is committed to competing for his spot at Arsenal, despite rumored £60 million offers from Saudi Pro League teams. Arteta has now recognized and rewarded Jesus’ ambition, stating that he is content with his current attacking options following the opening-day win.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Arteta explained, “I have faith in [Havertz], we have faith in [Gabriel Jesus], and Leandro [Trossard] has also played in that position. We have different qualities in our squad, and the best thing we can do is trust our players and help them improve. They are talented and committed, and that’s where our focus lies.”
Arteta had previously praised Jesus for his hard work and improvement, especially during Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States. Jesus stood out in a 2-1 win over Manchester United, and Arteta highlighted the Brazilian’s dedication to enhancing his physical condition over the summer.
“He looks really sharp,” Arteta said after Jesus scored the equalizer against United. “He has changed a lot of things during the break and has returned in top condition. When a player has that solid foundation, you can build on it. Without it, they can’t perform at their best. He’s realized that, and I’m very pleased with what he’s shown.”
