Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Argentine defensive midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez during this summer transfer window. According to Diego Monroig via Bolavip, the Gunners are looking to bolster their squad as they aim to secure the Premier League title next season. They believe Fernandez could add valuable quality to their midfield, both immediately and in the future.

Ezequiel Fernandez has risen through the ranks at Boca Juniors, having been with the club since his youth. He was promoted to the first team at the beginning of 2023 and has since made 67 appearances, contributing five goals. Currently, he is representing Argentina at the Olympics, where he scored in a 3-1 victory over Iraq, although Argentina had a rough start, losing to Morocco in their first group game.

Fernandez’s performances have attracted attention from multiple clubs. Despite having four years left on his contract, there is speculation about a possible move this summer. Recently, the Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah made an attempt to sign him with a $17 million offer, but Boca Juniors rejected it, despite Fernandez being open to the move.

Now, Arsenal have expressed serious interest in Fernandez. They are looking for a young partner to pair with Declan Rice in midfield and believe Fernandez could be a significant long-term asset. Arsenal have informed Fernandez’s representatives of their interest, aiming to include him in their squad for the 2024/25 season. While Arsenal has not yet made a formal offer, their keen interest could present a challenge for Boca Juniors in retaining the young talent.
