I didn’t join Arsenal just because I like them but because of what this Arsenal player did for me last season, that is why I’m here,I really can’t wait to start the season with Him”, Arsenal new signing Victor Gyokeres Named the ONE Arsenal player that lured Him to join Arsenal in His recent interview Today

In a heartfelt and revealing press conference, Arsenal’s new signing Victor Gyökeres has shed light on the real reason behind his decision to join the Gunners this summer. While many assumed his arrival was purely tactical or based on admiration for Mikel Arteta’s project, the Swedish striker has now confessed it was a personal bond — not just footballing ambition — that brought him to the Emirates.

“I didn’t join Arsenal just because I like them,” Gyökeres said with a smile, sitting beside Arteta at the club’s London Colney training base. “I joined because of what this Arsenal player did for me last season. That’s why I’m here. I really can’t wait to start the season with him.”

Fans and reporters leaned in as Gyökeres, formerly of Sporting CP, finally named the teammate who influenced his decision.

“It’s Martin Ødegaard,” he revealed. “We spoke several times last season. He reached out after some of my games, encouraged me, and even sent me detailed feedback after I scored that hat-trick in the Europa League. No one needed to do that — but he did.”

According to Gyökeres, Ødegaard, Arsenal’s Norwegian captain and a fellow Scandinavian, played a pivotal role not only in welcoming him to the idea of Premier League football but also in selling him the Arsenal vision from a player’s perspective.

“He didn’t talk like a scout or a club executive,” Gyökeres continued. “He spoke like a brother — like someone who genuinely believed I’d fit here. That meant everything to me. I trust him, and I’m ready to run through a wall for him and this club.”

Ødegaard, who was not present at the press conference, has yet to comment publicly, but club sources say the captain is “thrilled” about Gyökeres’ arrival and has already started working closely with him in training sessions.

Mikel Arteta also weighed in: “Victor is not only a powerful striker — he’s a smart one. And he already feels like part of this group. That connection with Martin? That’s leadership. That’s culture. That’s what we’re building here.”

Arsenal fans have taken to social media in excitement over the duo’s budding partnership, with many calling them the “Scandi Connection” and predicting fireworks this season.

With Gyökeres now officially wearing the famous red and white, and Ødegaard leading the charge once again, Arsenal’s forward line looks set to add both physical presence and a touch of Scandinavian synergy — just in time for what promises to be a thrilling Premier League title race.
