“They say we’re already out of the title race, I don’t blame them, I blame Arteta for giving them attentio ”- Arsenal Man of the match winner Declan Rice shush Man United fans after they threw objects towards because of TWO banter words he said at them at full time
“We’ll see what happens” – Declan Rice insists Arsenal are still in the title race after beating Manchester United.
Arsenal extended their Premier League winning streak to three games with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The Gunners delivered a dominant second-half performance, with defenders Jurrien Timber and William Saliba scoring from corner kicks to secure the win.
This victory marked Arsenal’s fourth consecutive triumph across all competitions, including their most recent Champions League match, and extended their unbeaten streak to five games.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice reflected on the team’s performance. “What a night,” he said. “Manchester United have a new manager, so we knew it would be a test. We stuck to the game plan and could’ve had three or four [goals].”
Set-pieces proved to be a decisive factor, with both goals coming from corners. Despite the absence of Gabriel Magalhães, a key threat on set-pieces, Arsenal made the most of their 13 corner opportunities, with Rice delivering several dangerous deliveries.
“Set-pieces are something we consistently work on, so to see them pay off is really satisfying,” Rice added. “When you go up for a corner, it’s a chance to score. Nico [Jover, Arsenal’s set-piece coach] will be buzzing. I put in a few good balls and could’ve had more assists—it’s all about repetition and getting the weight right on the ball.”
The win moved Arsenal within seven points of league leaders Liverpool, while Chelsea, with the same number of points as the Gunners, remain in second place. Despite the gap, Rice remains optimistic about Arsenal’s title chances.
“When you have a blip, people write you off,” he said. “But we stick together as a group, and we’ve turned things around. It’s still early in the season. Liverpool have dropped points—they’re only seven away—so we’ll see what happens.”
