“ON ONE CONDITION”, Nico Williams finally reveals the only Condition that could make Him reject Barca offer for Arsenal by January
Arsenal appear to have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Nico Williams ahead of the January transfer window. The Athletic Bilbao star had drawn interest from several top European clubs, including Arsenal, following his standout performances for Spain at Euro 2024. However, he opted to stay in Bilbao during the summer.
Clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham have all been linked with the 22-year-old, who was reportedly Mikel Arteta’s priority attacking target for the 2024/25 campaign. Despite Arsenal’s interest, financial constraints related to profit and sustainability rules prevented the deal from materializing. Instead, Arsenal secured Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan from Chelsea as a short-term solution.
Even with Williams remaining at Bilbao, Arsenal’s interest seems undeterred as the player continues to impress. Although his form hasn’t quite matched his Euro 2024 performances, he has still contributed to seven goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season. Notably, his assist in Bilbao’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad highlighted his pace and quality in delivering the final ball.
While Williams has publicly stated his commitment to Athletic Bilbao, saying in October, “I’m not thinking about my future now. I’m so happy to be at Athletic… Bilbao is my home, and I want to enjoy it here,” reports suggest his stance on a potential move is evolving. According to The Athletic, Williams is now more open to a Premier League transfer but would prefer to avoid moving during the January window.
This development significantly boosts Arsenal’s chances of signing him next summer. Williams is believed to have been a key topic of discussion during a recent meeting between Mikel Arteta and the Kroenke family in the United States, making him one of the club’s top targets for the upcoming transfer window.
