REPORT: Saudi Arabia are set to hand Arsenal a ‘perfect’ transfer window after a whopping sum of almost £130M was offered to Arsenal in exchange for FOUR Arsenal stars- No other PL club earned up to 100M from sales this summer- Mikel Arteta to decide
Both players are nearing the end of their careers but still managed to secure a substantial combined fee, which Jurgen Klopp can reinvest into his squad. Meanwhile, Arsenal may need to offload some fringe players before making further purchases this summer after already spending £200m.
Express Sport has identified four players that Mikel Arteta and Edu will hope Saudi Arabia ramps up their interest in, potentially bringing in a combined £130m.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney appears to have dropped down the pecking order under Arteta, with Oleksandr Zinchenko often preferred at left-back. While Tierney’s quality is unquestionable, Arteta’s preference for a full-back who can invert into midfield may lead to the Scot seeking regular playing time elsewhere. Newcastle and Celtic have shown interest, but neither has met the £30m asking price. This sum would, however, be a small amount for Saudi clubs, who have not hesitated to spend big on established stars like Tierney.
Albert Sambi Lokonga
Albert Sambi Lokonga was left out of the US pre-season tour squad after failing to impress Arteta and is expected to leave the Emirates this summer, with Burnley the most likely destination to reunite with his former Anderlecht manager, Vincent Kompany. It remains uncertain whether Arsenal will look for a permanent transfer or opt for a loan deal. If it’s the former, Saudi clubs could outbid Burnley and help Arsenal recover a significant portion of the £15m they paid for him in 2021. Though Arsenal reportedly rejected a £7m bid from Monaco in January, a fee closer to £10m could see the 23-year-old move on.
Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey has already attracted attention from the Middle East following the arrival of Declan Rice, which has put his place in the team at risk. With two years remaining on his contract, it is uncertain whether Arsenal will offer him a new deal as he enters his thirties. This could be the last chance for the Gunners to secure a substantial fee for the Ghanaian, most likely from Saudi clubs despite interest from Juventus. A bid around £40m could be enough to persuade Arsenal to sell, similar to the transfer of Fabinho to Al-Ittihad.
Folarin Balogun
Despite Gabriel Jesus missing the start of the season due to injury, Folarin Balogun could still leave the Emirates as he seeks a first-choice striker role elsewhere and doesn’t want another loan spell after his successful time at Reims last season. Inter Milan deemed Arsenal’s £50m asking price too high and shifted focus to West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca. However, as one of the hottest prospects in the market, Balogun could attract the interest of Saudi clubs eager to secure a highly sought-after Arsenal striker.
