(4-3-3) New Manchester United formation due to the arrival of Van Nistelrooy as the new coach – INEOS decision finally made

In a recently released interview conducted just hours before Manchester United’s match against Liverpool, Ineos executives have publicly affirmed their support for manager Erik ten Hag. The comments come in the wake of a challenging start to the Premier League season for United.

Manchester United’s performance has been under scrutiny as the team has scored only two goals in their first three matches, resulting in two losses and a lowly 14th place in the league standings.

Omar Berrada, who joined Ineos at the start of the year and officially began his role as chief executive in July, has emphasized that Erik ten Hag has the full backing of the club’s leadership. In an interview with ESPN, Berrada reiterated that the decision to extend Ten Hag’s contract was well-considered, and that Ten Hag continues to have the club’s unwavering support. He stated, “We’re very happy with that decision [to give Ten Hag a new contract]. Erik has our full backing and we have worked very closely together in this transfer window. We’re going to continue working very closely with him to help him get the best results out of the team. Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we’re fully backing him.”

Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director who also began his role in July, echoed similar sentiments. Ashworth conveyed his satisfaction with Ten Hag’s management and highlighted his role in supporting the coach. He said, “I’ve really enjoyed working with Erik for the last eight weeks. I see my job as supporting him in every way I possibly can, whether that’s operationally, with recruitment, with medical, with psychology, or with training ground flow. My aim is to take as much of that off him as possible so he can fully concentrate on the training pitch and the match tactical plan to drive success for Manchester United.”

It’s important to note that Berrada and Ashworth’s supportive remarks were made before Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool and were embargoed for release until Monday evening as per media agreements. Despite the team’s recent loss, Ineos remains steadfast in their support for Ten Hag. The executives’ comments reflect a strong commitment to the manager, emphasizing that their backing will not waver after a few disappointing results.

Erik ten Hag, now in his third season with Manchester United, faces the challenge of improving on last year’s disappointing eighth-place finish in the league. Although he has earned praise for winning two trophies, United fans are eager for more consistent progress. The team’s performance in the first three games of the season has raised concerns, with issues such as goal-scoring struggles and defensive errors being highlighted.

With 35 league games remaining and new signings yet to make their mark—such as Manuel Ugarte, who has not yet played since his arrival on deadline day—Ten Hag must ensure that he consistently delivers results. Continued explanations of support from Berrada and Ashworth may eventually become burdensome. Fans expressed their frustration during the loss to Liverpool, and while the upcoming fixtures may offer some relief, Ten Hag faces a critical period ahead to demonstrate progress and address the team’s ongoing challenges.
