Chelsea ‘very seriously’ considering swap deal for Real Madrid player that would solve long-standing problem
Chelsea is actively looking for a new goalkeeper as they prepare for their Premier League opener against Manchester City. They have been linked with several candidates for this critical position.
The Telegraph reports that Robert Sanchez is likely to be Enzo Maresca’s first choice at the start of the season. Sanchez is considered a good fit for Maresca’s preferred style of play.
However, Chelsea is still interested in bringing in another goalkeeper. They are considering Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal and Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia. Additionally, Spanish outlet AS has reported that Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin could be part of a swap deal involving Kepa Arrizabalaga. Kepa, who spent the previous season on loan at Real Madrid, is open to taking a reduced salary to be a backup to Thibaut Courtois.
Chelsea’s interest in signing Andriy Lunin is described as very serious. After their match against Wrexham on Wednesday, Enzo Maresca was asked about Chelsea’s transfer plans. He responded, “When the transfer window is open, anything can happen for us and for the rest.” When asked specifically about Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal, Maresca said, “We’ll see, we’ll see.” He noted that they currently have four goalkeepers, with Petrovic injured, and emphasized the importance of the goalkeeper position in their style of play.
