Manchester City Star Rodri sees ‘Ballon d’Or confirmed’ as Spain star scoops Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament – while teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is also recognised after final triumph over England

The defensive midfielder, Rodri, has been awarded the Euro 2024 Player of the Year title, marking another remarkable season in both club and international football. His contributions were crucial in securing Spain’s victory in the Euro 2024 tournament. This triumph adds to his impressive haul of four trophies this season, including the Premier League championship with Manchester City and the Euro 2024 title with the Spanish national team, La Roja.

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has predicted that Rodri is a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or this year. Following Spain’s emphatic win, Vertonghen tweeted on X, “Rodri Ballon d’Or verified.”

Another standout player for Spain was Lamine Yamal, the young sensation from Barcelona. The 17-year-old had a stellar performance throughout the tournament and played a pivotal role in the final, providing a crucial assist to help break the deadlock.

Rodri was also named the 2022–23 Champions League Player of the Season after his decisive goal secured Manchester City’s victory over Inter in the final. This win marked the first time in the club’s history that they lifted the Champions League trophy. Rodri’s consistent performances make him a top contender for the Ballon d’Or this year, despite competition from stars like Lionel Messi, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham.

Both Rodri and Yamal are expected to enjoy a well-deserved break before returning to their respective teams for preseason training. Later this month, both Manchester City and Barcelona are scheduled to travel to the United States for a series of friendly matches.
