Arsenal have informed a highly-rated forward that they are willing to meet his full £50 million price tag to sign him for manager Mikel Arteta.

Edu and Arteta Targeting New Forward for Arsenal

Sporting director Edu is actively seeking to sign a new attacker for Arsenal this summer. The club aims to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title for a third consecutive season and hopes to finally surpass Pep Guardiola’s team.

While Arsenal is in discussions to sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, they are also pursuing a right-winger to provide rotation options with their star player, Bukayo Saka. Arsenal has been linked with several potential targets, including lesser-known player Edon Zhegrova and more established names like Wolves winger Pedro Neto. Arteta is keen to ensure there is sufficient depth behind Saka, who scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists across all competitions last season. The lack of equivalent quality backups for Saka is a concern, especially if he were to suffer an injury.

There were reports that Manchester United offered winger Jadon Sancho to Arsenal, but Arteta and his team were not interested. In addition to Neto, another exciting prospect on Arsenal’s radar is Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. The 21-year-old has impressed at Euro 2024 with Spain, helping them reach the semi-finals, and registered 19 assists in all competitions for Bilbao last season.

Spanish media suggest that Arsenal and Chelsea are both competing to sign Williams, who also attracts serious interest from Barcelona. Williams currently earns a reported £200,000 per week at Bilbao, and matching or exceeding this salary would make him one of Arsenal’s highest-paid players.

Arsenal Communicates Willingness to Pay Nico Williams’ £50 Million Release Clause

According to HITC, Arsenal has directly informed Williams that they are prepared to pay his full £50 million release clause to bring him to the Emirates Stadium. This intention has been clearly communicated to the forward, as has Liverpool’s interest. However, it appears both clubs might be disappointed, as HITC reports that Williams currently prefers a move to Barcelona over the Premier League.
