JUST IN: Club representatives are now in London to wrap up deal for £60m superstar, paperwork to be done tonight – announcement tomorrow morning

Arsenal’s leadership is confident they can secure a “superstar” forward for approximately £50 million this summer. The club has initiated discussions with the player’s representatives in anticipation of a potential formal move.

Arsenal Pursue Forward Amid Riccardo Calafiori Negotiations

Following the announcement of David Raya’s permanent transfer for £27 million, Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, is now focused on finalizing a deal for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal has begun talks with Bologna and confirmed that Calafiori has agreed to personal terms on a five-year contract.

Calafiori, a young central defender, impressed during Euro 2024, playing a key role in Italy’s progression from the group stage. His absence due to suspension was felt when Italy was eliminated by Switzerland. Signing Calafiori would be a strategic move for Mikel Arteta, but Arsenal is also exploring options for new attacking players. The club is seeking a right-winger to rotate with Bukayo Saka, leading to interest in Lille’s Edon Zhegrova and other potential candidates.

Last season, Saka scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. To challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title and potentially go further, Arsenal needs more depth. Previously linked with Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Arsenal continues to consider him for their wide options. Neto’s involvement in Euro 2024 ended with Portugal’s quarter-final exit to France, giving him time to contemplate his future at Wolves.

Arsenal Confident in £50 Million Deal for Pedro Neto

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal has contacted Neto’s agency for discussions, with several Premier League clubs also monitoring his situation. While Wolves value Neto at around £60 million, Arsenal believes they can negotiate a deal for approximately £50 million. Neto has drawn interest from Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham, who see him as an alternative to Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

Despite his injury issues, the 24-year-old contributed 11 goals in just 20 league appearances last season. Described as a “superstar” by Jamie Carragher, Neto is crucial for Wolves when fit, though his injury history is a concern.

In summary, Arsenal is actively working to enhance their squad with strategic signings, aiming to secure top talents like Calafiori and Neto to bolster their chances in the upcoming season.
