Medical Scheduled ✅: Rivals loses £60m superstar signing to Arsenal, Medical plan to hold today as agreement reached last night – Jubilation at London Colney as Arsenal sealed second signing of the summer

Arsenal have made an offer to sign a defender who could potentially resolve Mikel Arteta’s left-back issues for next season.
Last season, Jurrien Timber’s injury left Arsenal short on left-back options. Although Jakub Kiwior performed well, occasionally moving into midfield when needed, he ultimately proved more suited to a central defender role. Oleksandr Zinchenko, despite his ball-handling skills, often made poor defensive decisions. Kieran Tierney, despite fitting the character profile Arteta prefers, doesn’t align with Arteta’s tactical style, and his injury at Euro 2024 complicates his potential sale.
Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, who had an outstanding Euros, seems to be the ideal candidate for Arsenal. Recommended by Jorginho, Calafiori is versatile, able to play both as a centre-back and a full-back. According to Italian reports, Arsenal have made a €47 million (£40 million) bid for him.
The Italian publication Corriere dello Sport reported on their front page that Arsenal submitted the bid, competing with Chelsea and Liverpool for Calafiori’s signature. Arsenal’s interest has rapidly intensified, indicating their clear intentions.
After his impressive Euro 2024 campaign, Calafiori was praised as one of the best in the world, attracting interest from top European clubs. While Arsenal fans might recall the failed pursuit of Manuel Locatelli in 2021 due to Juventus’ strong pull in Serie A, Bologna’s sporting director seems determined that Calafiori will move abroad this summer, giving Arsenal hope in securing the defender.
