DEAL CLOSE: Arsenal have taken advantage of sluggish Man United to hijack Ten Hag ‘very fast’ target- Big loss for United as the player already agreed 100% terms with Arsenal- Player is set to fly to Emirate this week to complete Arsenal medical- Fabrizio Romano confirms

Arsenal are preparing for a busy summer in the transfer market as sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta aim to finalize their squad improvements. The team has made significant progress in recent years, rising from a mid-table position to competing for the Premier League title.

Despite their progress, Arsenal still has work to do to reach the next level, and they are actively looking to strengthen their squad. A key priority is acquiring a new striker, specifically an out-and-out No. 9 to capitalize on the opportunities created by his teammates.

According to a report from Portugal, Arsenal is on the verge of making a significant signing for an initial fee of around £76 million. The player in question is Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon, who is currently one of the most sought-after talents in European football.

The Sporting-dedicated website, Leonino, has reported that Arsenal is close to finalizing a deal for the Swedish international. While Sporting initially demanded €100 million, which is Gyokeres’ release clause, the two clubs have reportedly reached a compromise.

The agreement is said to include an initial fee of €90 million (£76 million), with performance-related bonuses that could bring the total package to €120 million (£101 million). These bonuses are tied to the number of goals, Champions League appearances, and titles Gyokeres achieves while at Arsenal.

Earlier this week, Leonino mentioned that only ‘financial details’ were holding up the deal between Arsenal and Sporting. These issues now appear to have been resolved.

Gyokeres has been highly praised for his abilities. In 2022, Coventry manager Mark Robins spoke to the Coventry Telegraph about the striker, highlighting his power, technique, and hunger for goals. Although not the finished article at the time, Robins noted his potential and the occasional frustration he shows when things don’t go his way.

Now, two years later, Gyokeres has developed significantly, making him an attractive target for top clubs like Arsenal. With promising reports suggesting that the deal is progressing well, Arsenal fans can hope for an official announcement in the coming weeks, possibly even days.
