FEE AGREED ✅: Arsenal set to beat Liverpool and Chelsea to the signing of £50m superstar, Arsenal has already agreed to pay His release clause – player set to bid farewell to His teammates for Him to join Arsenal
Arsenal are willing to pay the release clause of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but he prefers to join Barcelona or Real Madrid, according to Sport.
The Gunners have admired the Spain international for a long time and are interested in securing his signature once again. However, a deal seems unlikely.
According to Sport (page 6), Mikel Arteta’s team is prepared to pay Zubimendi’s £51 million release clause but recognizes that the midfielder has other plans. The 25-year-old has been hesitant to leave Sociedad and would only consider moving to Barcelona or Madrid in the future.
Arsenal Need to Move On from Zubimendi
Arsenal has shown long-term interest in Zubimendi, with Arteta being a keen admirer of his talent. However, they have not been able to change his stance. Last summer, Zubimendi made it clear he wanted to stay at Sociedad after the club qualified for the Champions League. Despite Sociedad finishing only sixth in La Liga last season, Zubimendi is still not considering an exit. Sociedad’s manager Imanol has confirmed that Zubimendi wants to stay, expressing no doubts about his commitment.
In our view, Arsenal are fighting a losing battle in their pursuit of Zubimendi and need to move on. There are several quality defensive midfielders on the market who are better in distribution than Zubimendi. If Arsenal are looking for someone with Premier League experience, they should consider Everton star Amadou Onana.
