Manchester City and England Star player has been injured today in training before Euro 2024 opener game, Garath Southgate has just announced the news this evening

John Stones would have faced an unforgiving exclusion from the Euro 2024 warm-up matches had he fractured his foot during England’s last game. Stones was substituted at half-time after taking a significant knock early in the match. He began the game alongside Marc Guehi, who is expected to be his defensive partner in England’s Euros opener against Serbia.

Stones admitted he was “worried” about his foot injury and was immediately concerned about his chances of participating in the Euros. Despite this initial fear, Stones now reports that he is “feeling pretty fine” ahead of England’s first Euro 2024 game on Sunday night, and his worries turned out to be unfounded.

The thirty-year-old explained, “I was initially concerned about the mechanism of events and how I fell on my foot.” He described the injury, saying, “Given my landing technique, I knew it was neither my ankle nor my knee. You could virtually see my big toe in a line straight down my foot, and you could say, ‘I have broken it.'”

Stones continued, “At first, you believe the worst; then, we had some scans back, and it was a rather tiny matter that passed through it, which is fantastic.” He reflected on his history of injuries and the emotional resilience he has developed, stating, “With my background of injuries and understanding how to cope with them emotionally, it is incredibly helpful. I thought if I had fractured it, I would get the doctors, medications, injections, whatever it is, because I don’t want to miss out.”

He concluded, “If it was awful, I was ready to leave; fortunately, it was not.”

Stones quickly returned to training but faced another setback when he developed an illness shortly after arriving in Germany. Despite these challenges, Stones remains optimistic and ready to contribute to England’s Euro 2024 campaign.
