Manchester City Superstar has Left Ethihad Stadium this evening to sign for David Beckham inter Miami

On Tuesday, Dean Jones revealed that Erling Haaland might leave Manchester City at the end of the next season to join Barcelona. On the same day, there were also reports suggesting that Ederson Moraes could depart from the team this summer.

Dean Jones also mentioned on the Ranks FC podcast that Kevin De Bruyne might move to Major League Soccer (MLS) after the end of the next season. He stated, “I think it’s not just Pep [Guardiola] that leaves next season. I believe Kevin De Bruyne will likely stay with Manchester City for one more season before heading to MLS.”

According to a report from February, Kevin De Bruyne had two options for the summer of 2024: he could either extend his contract and retire at Manchester City or join MLS. Given that his contract with Manchester City, valued at £54.5 million, expires in 2025, he might have already made up his mind.

If Kevin De Bruyne decides to join an MLS team after his contract expires, he could be following a career path similar to that of Toni Kroos. The Real Madrid website confirmed on Tuesday that Kroos has decided to retire, with the 2024 European Championship being his last football match. Despite being one of the best players globally, Kroos likely wanted to end his career on a high note.

While De Bruyne’s retirement plans are still unknown, signing with an MLS team next year would mean leaving European football as one of the top players in the world. As a club legend, he might want to avoid becoming a liability to his team as his performance and agility decline.

As Manchester City’s next generation of attacking midfielders, such as Oscar Bobb and Phil Foden, continue to develop, De Bruyne might be getting comfortable with the idea that these younger players will eventually take over his role. Similarly, Toni Kroos is ready to pass the torch at Real Madrid to rising stars like Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
