Breaking news: FIFA has delivered unfortunate news to the officials and referees assigned to the Liverpool FC versus Manchester United match, leading to their dismissal from their positions.
During the recent clash between Manchester United and Liverpool in the FA Cup, a noteworthy incident involving Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, has come to light. Reports indicate that Fernandes narrowly escaped receiving a red card for a challenge he made on Dominik Szoboszlai during the match.
Lee Dixon, who was providing co-commentary during the game, has shed some light on why Fernandes managed to avoid being sent off. Despite having already received a yellow card earlier in the game, Fernandes was not given a second yellow for his tackle on Szoboszlai in the second half.
Dixon acknowledged Fernandes’ stroke of luck but argued that the challenge did not warrant a straight red card. He pointed out that while incidents like these are often scrutinized by VAR (Video Assistant Referee), it did not intervene on this occasion.
Furthermore, Dixon emphasized that if the same tackle had occurred elsewhere on the pitch and Fernandes had not already been booked, he would have undoubtedly received a yellow card. He stressed his belief that the referee would have issued a caution if such a challenge had taken place on the halfway line.
