The Saudi Pro League sides preparing offers of over £100 million to sign Manchester City’s best player.
Several clubs in the Saudi Pro League have shown keen interest in securing the services of Manchester City’s star midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne, during the upcoming summer transfer window, as reported by Football Insider.
De Bruyne made his move to Manchester City from Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga back in 2015, for a hefty fee of £54 million. Since then, the Belgian maestro has become an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s squad, amassing an impressive tally of 369 appearances, with 98 goals and 165 assists to his name.
His contributions have been pivotal in Manchester City’s success, with De Bruyne boasting an impressive trophy cabinet that includes five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, a FIFA Club World Cup, and a UEFA Champions League triumph. Notably, he was appointed as captain following Ilkay Gundogan’s departure on a free transfer last season.
Given his stellar performances, De Bruyne has caught the eye of clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with reports suggesting that they are prepared to splash over £100 million to secure his services in the upcoming transfer window.
This interest from Saudi clubs comes on the heels of similar moves, with players like Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte departing the English champions for teams in the Middle Eastern League last season. Mahrez made a switch to Al-Ahli for a reported fee of £35 million, while Laporte joined Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for £21 million.
In a separate development, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker recently expressed his reluctance to see Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur’s fierce rivals, clinch the Premier League title. Walker, who spent eight years at Tottenham before joining City in 2017, shared his sentiments during a conversation with Rio Ferdinand. Despite acknowledging Arsenal’s progress under manager Arteta and the talent within their squad, Walker’s allegiance to Tottenham makes it difficult for him to root for their success.
Currently, Arsenal sits third in the Premier League standings with 61 points from 27 games, trailing behind Manchester City by one point and champions Liverpool by two points.
