Real Madrid legend loses patience with Vinicius Junior – ‘It’s like his teammates are talking to a child’
Real Madrid icon Predrag Mijatovic has once again advised Vinicius Junior to refrain from engaging in extracurricular activities on the field, following a narrow escape from a red card during their Champions League encounter with RB Leipzig. Despite securing the winning goal with a remarkable finish, Vinicius’ actions leading up to the goal nearly left his team with ten players, overshadowing his performance.
The overall display from Los Blancos was lackluster, barely progressing to the next round with a 2-1 aggregate victory against the German side, who amassed 34 shots across both legs. Mijatovic emphasized the importance of starting afresh, urging to discard any lingering negatives from the match.
“While acknowledging our advancement, it’s advisable to erase the remainder. There’s little benefit in dissecting this match for positives,” Mijatovic expressed.
Although Mijatovic maintained a composed demeanor, he was unequivocal in his message to Vinicius regarding his demeanor on the field.
“The prestigious Real Madrid jersey cannot accommodate such behavior. It might be acceptable elsewhere, but not at Real Madrid,” Mijatovic conveyed to Cadena SER.
“Vinicius must learn to compose himself. Otherwise, regardless of his football prowess, he won’t attain legendary status. Vinicius’ unpredictability, though an asset, sometimes proves disruptive to his own teammates.”
“One observes his teammates pulling him away, attempting to pacify him, almost as if dealing with a child. It’s also internally communicated that he must amend his behavior, as it not only agitates opponents but also his teammates.”
Vinicius himself has acknowledged this issue previously, expressing his desire for greater composure, while coach Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly advised the young forward to minimize such theatrics. Vinicius’ conduct was less prone to such incidents upon his arrival as a teenager, yet it’s understandable that he may react differently to challenges, given the racial abuse he has endured in recent times.
