‘Manchester City are relieved Kylian Mbappe is going to Real Madrid’ – PSG insider
According to French correspondent Julien Laurens, there is a prevailing sentiment within Manchester City that the potential departure of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to Real Madrid this summer could actually benefit them in their pursuit of retaining Erling Haaland, their coveted star forward.
The speculation surrounding Mbappe’s imminent move to Real Madrid has somewhat quelled the rumors linking the Spanish giants with a summer transfer for Haaland. Despite ongoing assertions from Spanish media outlets regarding a supposed clause in Haaland’s contract facilitating a move to Madrid, the feasibility of Real Madrid splurging on both Haaland and Mbappe in a single transfer window seems improbable.
Laurens, speaking to RMC Sport, conveyed the sense of relief felt within Manchester City’s camp regarding Mbappe’s purported move to Real Madrid, as it effectively closes the door, at least temporarily, on Haaland’s potential departure this summer. However, there remains a tacit acknowledgment that Real Madrid may still harbor ambitions of acquiring Haaland in the future, given the Norwegian’s expressed interest in playing in Spain at some point in his career. Nevertheless, such a pursuit might not be deemed urgent for Real Madrid in the immediate future, particularly if Mbappe’s transfer unfolds smoothly without any unforeseen complications.
