Bayern Munich plans to make a final effort to renew the contract of Alphonso Davies, who is also being targeted by Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich remains steadfast in their pursuit of retaining Alphonso Davies, despite reports of Real Madrid having reached a verbal agreement with the player on personal terms. The German powerhouse is determined to explore all avenues to secure the Canadian defender’s future, even though the likelihood of negotiations for his departure this summer looms.

At 23 years old, Davies’ contract with Bayern is set to expire in 2025, presenting the club with the options of extending his current deal, trading him for a profit in the upcoming transfer window, or risking losing him on a free transfer the following year. Real Madrid has long shown interest in Davies, dating back to last summer, and it appears they are close to securing his services.

Speaking to The Daily Briefing, Matteo Moretto emphasized Bayern’s commitment to avoiding losing Davies for nothing, indicating they are open to negotiations if necessary. Despite a lack of recent discussions due to Bayern’s focus on the ongoing season, the club plans to engage with Davies once their schedule clears. Notably, discussions between Bayern and Davies’ representatives took place last week.

Concurrently, Real Madrid aims to emulate their success with Toni Kroos by acquiring Davies at a modest cost. Even years after Kroos’ acquisition for €25 million, his impact far outweighs the initial investment. This summer presents Davies with a pivotal decision-making moment. While Bayern could offer a more lucrative salary, the allure of playing alongside Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid might sway him. Additionally, declining performance from both Davies and Bayern as a team could influence his departure.
