Jack Grealish loves his football more than anyone else in the Manchester City squad and he couldn’t take the pain
After suffering yet another injury setback against Luton Town, Jack Grealish was plainly upset.
Grealish has suffered numerous injuries this season, so being substituted against Copenhagen a few weeks ago upset him.
He was allowed to return to the starting lineup for the FA Cup encounter against Luton, when Erling Haaland scored three goals and Kevin De Bruyne assisted twice.
However, an injury forced the former Aston Villa captain to quit the game before halftime, and Jeremy Doku replaced him.
Staff and players on the bench had to console Grealish, who was completely shocked.
Then, trying to conceal his emotions, he held his coat above his head.
Haaland gave City a 3-0 lead with a magnificent hat-trick, but the Hatters answered with a remarkable goal from Jordan Clark, the previous season’s play-off final winner.
Grealish has recently experienced groyne pain; it is unclear whether this is a recurrence of that condition.
During his pre-Luton press conference, Pep Guardiola lauded the £100 million man while also urging him to display his ability to play.
“I said from day one, we need him,” Guardiola stated. He contributes something special to our group. However, this is depending on him. I hope he has a successful final three months.
“Players require more than three or four games to develop a rhythm with me. They must develop a rhythm so that they can perform for 90 or 20 minutes.
“The team does not wait to be in peak physical condition. Someone cannot become fit by playing three or four games. What about the ten who don’t play? Do they truly deserve to be benched?
“You must attend the training sessions and observe every aspect. I do not need to be persuaded by the players. “They must convince themselves that they are worthy of participating.”
