Guardiola reacted as follows during Friday’s press conference when asked about Rooney’s comments about his willingness to take on a coaching post at the Etihad Stadium.
“He is more than welcome to come at any time,” he said. He is obviously important to our city, but he is also a Red Devil and United fan, which is fantastic for all of us.
“Wayne Rooney only won one Premier League? Not in my opinion. He achieved enormous achievement. That suggests he is conscious of the difficulties associated with being present, which is why he is aware of them.
Rooney’s statement that he is open to joining City’s coaching staff illustrates how much he appreciates and admires Guardiola’s work there.
Rooney’s outstanding achievements at United during his playing career demonstrate that he understands what it takes to be a top contender.
