“He’s just an overhyped player, nothing really special about him, i don’t rate him much”- Didier Drogba, a Chelsea icon, thinks the 22-year-old Arsenal sensation is nothing more than a flop.

Didier Drogba, a Chelsea icon, has made some surprising comments regarding Arsenal defender William Saliba.

Saliba is regarded as one of Arsenal’s most important players these days, and he has delivered outstanding performances since the beginning of last season.

However, Drogba isn’t convinced.

In an exclusive interview with ‘Get French Football News’, the former Ivorian international stated that Saliba was not above average.

He added: “Then there’s the one at Arsenal [Saliba] – he hasn’t yet had enough playing time to adjust to that required relationship.

“I do not believe his individual qualities are above average.

“He is at a very high level, but not outstanding.

Drogba believed Saliba was playing at a good level but was nothing unique for Arsenal.

“So, before absorbing the worldwide level, he must acclimatise to such linkages.

Of course, to put these statements into context, keep in mind that Saliba hasn’t been as dominant for his country as he has for his club.

Although the defender has been perfect for Arsenal, several of his performances in France have been questioned.

And Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano have done better for their country thus far.

However, this does not preclude the possibility that these comments will surprise you.

Saliba is having another terrific season for Arsenal and was badly missed when he was rested against West Ham United last night.

The defender is now rated one of Arsenal’s greatest, with Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Declan Rice.

And, while Desailly is skeptical about Saliba, Arsenal does not share his concerns.

Kai Havertz is one player who continues to receive criticism.

Despite Arsenal’s overall bad performance last night, Havertz has once again received a lot of criticism.
