Hart began his football career at his hometown club, Shrewsbury Town, where he made his senior debut in April 2004. He then moved to Manchester City, where he made 348 appearances and emerged as one of the league’s top goalkeepers. He spent time with West Ham United and Torino before settling down permanently at Burnley.

THOUGHTS OF HART
Regarding his retirement, Hart stated, “I’m going to stop playing professional football as of June.” I’ve thought about this for a long time. There is no right or wrong time, but there is a lot going on at the club where I am currently playing. With the general objective of the club, the support network, and the discussions that surround it, there is a lot of love and passion behind what we do as a football team.

“I just felt it was important that we get the word out with the club’s blessing [and after] conversations with Brendan [Rodgers] and Stevie Woods [keeper coach], as there is obviously a conversation surrounding the goalkeeping position for next season.” It eliminates one scenario that would have needed conjecture.

Hart went on, saying, “Physically, I feel great. I started playing football at the age of sixteen and did as well as I could considering my age and the harm I had done to my body. I’ve taken every precaution to preserve my best physical condition and position so that on game day, I can give it my all, which I am doing right now. I truly excel on game day, but I understand that time waits for no man, and I don’t want my body to be the one to retire me. That was one of the key factors I considered when making my decision.
