‘Arteta has a lot of questions to answer if he fails to win the league title this season with this group of skills that he is carrying, I wish He was at Manchester United, we could have topped the table by now’: Erik Ten Hag recommends one Arsenal player that Kobbie Mainoo must emulate if he truly wants to succeed in his career.

Erik Ten Hag believes Kobbie Mainoo must continue to perform well for Manchester United while also trying to adapt his game, like Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden have done.

Since joining Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup at the end of November, the Manchester United midfielder has established himself as a regular.

The 18-year-old has been a wonderfully calm presence in center midfield, contributing to the Red Devils’ improved form as they push for a Champions League spot.

Mainoo has already been linked with a place in England’s team for this summer’s European Championship, but Ferdinand believes he still has a lot to prove.

He wants to see the teenager maintain this amazing level of performance for a longer period of time while also demonstrating his ability to alter his game as opponents become accustomed to what he does.

Ferdinand believes Saka and Foden are suitable role models for Mainoo because of what they have done at Arsenal and Manchester City, respectively.

Just be consistent. If you simply stay consistent at the level he’s at right now, that’s a really good level,’ Ferdinand told FIVE about what Mainoo needs to achieve now.

What you generally see with young players is that they come in and start flying, and then people get to know them. What else have you added to your game that is a surprise element? In your first season, you are a surprise package.

‘That is why, Saka, you must adore him. That is why Foden. These guys aren’t just one-hit wonders who show up for a good time.

‘These guys are continually displaying it; this is our level, and we’re headed in that direction [up].

‘Kobbie Mainoo needs to look at those guys and think, I don’t want to be one of those who just walks in. What more do I need to bring once I’ve worked out?
