VAR has explained why they didn’t give penalty for Levi Colwill’s handball!

On Saturday, February 17, the referee infuriated the Manchester City players by failing to award what they believed to be a clear handball against Chelsea.

The Cityzens had an exciting game at the Etihad Stadium but lost two critical points.

Raheem Sterling handed Chelsea the lead after a spectacular counterattack by the visitors, returning to torment his former team.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team deserves credit for their efforts; they looked dangerous throughout the game and could have defeated City but for some bad finishing.

City had their opportunities as well, and top scorer Erling Haaland will be regretting himself for passing up a clear opportunity as time expired.

Rodri’s threatening attempt was eventually matched late in the game by a beautiful deflection off Trevor Chalobah and into the net.

Colwill’s Handball Match
A disagreement arose near the end of the game, when City players claimed Chelsea defender Colwill handled the ball in the box.

The defender and City’s Ruben Dias got into an aerial battle when the ball accidentally hit his hand as it fell to the ground.

What is next for Chelsea and Manchester City?

Because of the stalemate, City is now fourth in the rankings, four points behind leaders Liverpool, who beat Brentford 4-1 in their previous encounter.

Pep Guardiola’s team will next play at home against Brentford in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will prepare for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday, February 25.
