“I’m seriously worried about him and hope he doesn’t play well against us”- Burnley manager Vincent Kompany says he is really frightened and concerned about one Arsenal player against Burnley on Saturday. No Saka, no Saliba, and no Havertz

Vincent Kompany believes Burnley has showed enough in recent matches against quality teams to upset Arsenal next weekend.

The Clarets lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Saturday, just a few weeks after losing the same scoreline to fellow championship contenders Manchester City.

Arsenal defeated Kompany’s side 3-1 at The Emirates in November, and the two teams meet again on Saturday.

While Burnley is yet to pick up a point against the league’s top three, or anyone in the top 11, Kompany believes his team’s performances demonstrate that they are more than capable of springing surprises.

Speaking after last week’s setback at Anfield, the Clarets manager said: “It’s a team with a lot of quality and a stadium and audience with a lot of history and enthusiasm for the team, which is always difficult.

“For as much as we came to play our own game, we fared exceptionally well in that setting.

“It’s a positive takeaway from the game for sure. I don’t think we can take too much away from this game since it should also give us the confidence to continue.

We’ve played Liverpool twice. City, we’ve played them twice; you’ve got to play them all, but there’s enough in our performances to make us believe we can win, and that should be the priority.”

Kompany should be encouraged by Burnley’s performance at Anfield, given that his team caused the hosts numerous problems.

With the game tied at 2-1, David Fofana missed two golden opportunities to equalize, while Wilson Odobert strayed wide with the goal at his mercy.

“I’ve been to this place many times myself as a player and I didn’t have those chances,” he said.

“It’s not the first time, either; we’ve got plenty of opportunities against some of the other elite teams, but there’s no complaining. It’s what it is. We just need to get on with it and prepare for the next challenge.
