How can a professional player miss that chance, despite having won? He’s not happy right now. A BBC pundit noticed an Arsenal player with his hands on his head following a first-half mistake.

Michael Brown thought Leandro Trossard could have done a lot better with an early chance for Arsenal in their Premier League match against West Ham on Sunday.

The Gunners urgently needed a victory after Liverpool and Manchester City both earned three points on Saturday. And there was a split-second where Leandro Trossard appeared to give Mikel Arteta’s team the lead at the London Stadium.

Trossard found himself with a clear header in the six-yard area following a superb cross from Bukayo Saka midway through the first half.

Leandro Trossard squandered a fantastic opportunity to give Arsenal the lead at West Ham.
However, the Belgian was in no danger of striking the objective. The header was sloppy and did not put Alphonse Areola to the test. In an interview with BBC Radio Five Live, Michael Brown expressed his surprise at how poorly he handled the occasion.

Excellent play down the right-hand side. Saka just opens it up, left-footed, with a great cross. It’s wandered into the six-yard area. Trossard is there, hands on his head, which is not surprising. He only needs to touch it, get it wrong, and try to head it with a little bit of force,” he remarked.

Gunners didn’t have to wait long for the opening goal.
Fortunately, Arsenal’s miss did not cost them anything. The Gunners scored four goals before halftime, making it an incredible second half of the first.

Trossard was one among those who found the back of the goal, shooting beautifully into the top corner to make the score 4-0.

Arsenal fans must have been concerned when the first few opportunities slipped through their grasp. Obviously, the lack of a ruthless goalscorer has dominated discussion about the Gunners this season.

But Arsenal did find a clinical edge before halftime. Trossard was among those who would have been particularly relieved that the miss did not come back to haunt them.
