He is a good finisher, and I’m wondering why Arsenal didn’t finalize his deal in January. Pep Guardiola enthused about the £70 million striker Arsenal wanted to sign.
Arsenal have been widely linked with a deal for Ivan Toney in recent months, and Pep Guardiola has now praised him.
The Gunners, like many other clubs, did not sign anyone during the January transfer window. FFP laws made it impossible for them, but they are set to spend heavily on a striker this summer. Toney will most likely be a top target for Arsenal then.
Pep Guardiola praised Arsenal target Ivan Toney.
Ivan Toney returned from his football ban last month and has been terrific for Brentford in the Premier League since then.
The Englishman scored in his first game back against Nottingham Forest and then again against Tottenham Hotspur.
Toney would love nothing more than to score three goals in a row, but his squad’s next opponent is the world’s best team, Manchester City.
That is not to say Toney cannot score against the Cityzens; he undoubtedly can, and Pep Guardiola is fully aware of the striker’s talent.
Guardiola praised Toney during a press conference today, as reported by HaytersTV: “He’s an exceptional player, not just with long balls, but also with keeping the ball, set pieces, penalties, free kicks, and many other things… they can link with him.”
He’s an excellent player. I’m glad he’s back, and hopefully that period is forgotten in him, his life, and his family.
