Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has signed a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, according to reports.
TEAMtalk made the claim on X, posting that there had been a breakthrough about the Gunners full-back’s contract.
The report also claimed that Tomiyasu’s contract details would be verified when he returned from the Asian Cup later this month.
Arsenal have been fantastic at extending star players’ contracts.
Arsenal has done exceptionally well on the player contract front in recent months, signing a lot of its stars to long-term contracts.
This used to be a vulnerability for the Gunners, who had a horrible record of letting their best players enter the final year of their contracts a few years ago.
William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka have all signed new contracts with the Gunners in the last 12 months.
According to TEAMtalk, Tomiyasu is expected to commit his future to Arsenal in the next weeks.
Mikel Arteta regards the Japan international as an important squad member. Ben White has praised him as ‘world-class’.
Tomiyasu’s current contract extends until 2025, with a one-year option. He has made 73 appearances for Arsenal since joining three years ago, including 20 this season.
During the January transfer window, Napoli expressed interest in signing the 25-year-old. Unsurprisingly, they were unsuccessful since Arteta holds Tomiyasu in high regard.
