Finally Done ✅: Arsenal’s new signing is presently in London with his family as he is scheduled for a medical tonight; the announcement will be made tomorrow morning.

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is exploring a move to Arsenal, but the club may be unable to finance him this winter, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

The Gunners have been connected with the Belgian international this month, and his representative was recently said to have spoken with club officials.

Arsenal has yet to make a formal proposal for his services, but Het Nieuwsblad reports that conversations with the Toffees are underway over a possible deal.

While the midfielder is exploring a move to the London club, it is said that they ‘cannot push’ to sign him owing to financial ‘limitations’.

Everton are looking for at least €70 million to part ways with the former Lille star.

Arsenal are unlikely to afford Onana on a permanent deal.
Onana has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in England’s top division.

This season, he has won 2.6 tackles and 7.1 duels per appearance, in addition to 6.6 ball recoveries. He has won 70% of his aerial challenges and 50% of his takeovers.

Onana would be an excellent match for Declan Rice in the Arsenal midfield. Rice will have the opportunity to thrive in the number eight position if Onana joins the team.

Arsenal had planned to do so at the start of the season with Thomas Partey in the starting lineup, but the Ghanaian has been injured for several months and is no longer a reliable figure.

Onana could perhaps replace Partey in the future. In our opinion, a settlement this month appears doubtful, with practically every Premier League club wary about exceeding FFP rules.

According to Transfermarkt, top-flight clubs spent a total of €726 million on signings last winter, but this sum has been lowered to just €39 million due to teams’ concerns about point deductions.
