Arsenal’s mini-crisis is over. The Gunners had been tugged from pillar to post in the first two weeks of the new year, but it’s amazing what some Dubai sunshine can do for you, isn’t it?

Mikel Arteta’s side had only scored one goal in their previous three games and had lost all of them before facing a declining Crystal Palace club.

Do Arsenal still need a striker on the market? Arguably, but a 5-0 thrashing of Roy Hodgson’s side has calmed the nerves at the Emirates Stadium, instilling new hope in their title bid.

It was just what the doctor ordered, now it’s time to attack the window in earnest.

Arsenal’s current transfer plans

Arsenal will struggle to sign players this month. There has been little action on that front during the first several weeks of the window, and money is limited, owing mostly to financial fair play rules.

Their main objective, allegedly, is Ivan Toney, who scored against Nottingham Forest on Saturday despite missing the entire season due to a betting ban.

According to the most recent reports, Brentford will not accept anything less than their £80 million estimate for him. As a result, any planned relocation will have to wait until the summer.

A midfielder could be moved, but the price will determine the outcome. Everton, which is struggling financially, has seen Arsenal chase £60 million Belgium star Amadou Onana, but that is a difficult price to pay if sales do not occur this month. It could explain the significantly cheaper links to Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

According to sources in Spain, via Football 365, Arsenal have now moved into pole position to sign the Spanish midfielder, who has ‘chosen’ the Gunners as his future club after turning down interest from Barcelona.

Valued at £51 million due to a release clause, the move may have to wait until the summer. Nonetheless, he would be worth waiting for. Just imagine the collaboration with a certain Declan Rice
